I was honestly a little hesitant with this fic to begin with. Of course, the idea of Sho and Jun in a beach house together for a slowburn in a domestic setting is the best thing, but the depression and inclusion of so much of Sho's family made me a little hesitant.

However, I am very happy I decided to read it, because I would've missed out on so much.
What I was wary about to begin with - Sho's mother - was a character I came to love about just as much as the other characters in the story. After the introduction, she played a nice role in getting the story along, instead of slowing it down as I'd feared. The depression aspect of the story didn't bother me in the end, so kudos for that.

Truth me told, I loved all the characters and I love all the details you managed to get into this long, but not too long, fic. How Sho went surfing with Nagase and the mention of him shit-talking with his friends, the various hilarious hollerings of Aiba's crew, the way Sho almost stuck his hands in the potting soil, all those small things that made me smile is what made this fic not just good, but great.

Additionally, I loved the way Sho and Jun's attraction to one another seemed to be instant, from the moment they met. I am a sucker for the love-at-first sight/two-halves-of-a-whole aspect, so this had me feeling so warm and content throughout most of the fic. That is, until that misunderstanding with Aiba and Jun. I will have you know that from now on, I am totally gonna assume that the drunk kiss between Aiba and Jun that we have heard so much about, went down in the same way as here: Jun kissing Aiba pretending it was Sho. That's a very nice thought.

Needless to say, I loved the slow way they discovered each other in the end, the sex and how they acted in bed. Especially this had me grinning in appreciation:
"Sho’s seen several of Jun’s moods since he’s arrived at the Hidamari Guest House. Grouchy. Teasing. Assertive. But there’s a new Matsumoto Jun now, here in Sho’s bed, lying on his back with his legs apart and Sho between them. He’s got his arms back now, hands braced against the headboard, panting in desperation.
“Keep going,” Jun says. “Please, Sho.”"

Sho's in for one hell of a ride with sexually insatiable Jun.

I could go on with the details and small things I like about this. The water-skiing and the following kiss in the bathroom, Jun's bonsai, Jun's past as a dancer (!!), the way Sho and Jun opened up to one another and told their individual stories and griefs, Jun making Sho doing all those weird poses around "the camels", Toma and Shun... Please stop me.

I will return for a reread of this. It is lovely and calming and I did not feel stressed out while reading, as sometimes happens with action-packed long fics. Thank you for this, it was nothing but enjoyable.
