And I’d like to thank to my peanut butter to my jelly for checking and giving me moral/emotional all kinds of support on this. ♥

Aiba Masaki was a hardworking employee of a company. He was to first to arrive to work and the last one to leave. He frequently ended his shift to work when all of his other coworkers had already gone home

Wearing large pair of eyeglasses, he looked like a nerd. His attire was formal, wearing nothing but ties and suits. Aiba’s coworkers labeled the man as boring just by seeing his clothes and work ethics.

Aiba got along with his coworkers well however he wasn't the type who talked a lot.

If there's one quality his work mates liked about him, it was his kindness. He's kind; kind that often people around him abused it. Yet no complaints could be heard coming from him. They assumed that he liked being bossed around or perhaps he was a closet masochist. It would explain why he was frequently being bullied and didn't even realize it.

--

One late night, Aiba was on his way home when he met a stranger on the elevator. He assumed the person as a stranger because it was the first time he has seen his face. He knew all employees of the company and he was sure he hasn't seen that face before.

The stranger has a jet black hair with highlights of brown. His face has a lot of moles but the most eye-catching was the one on his chin. And he has this cool aura hanging all over him.

Aiba noticed he came from thirteenth floor. He found the stranger's striking and intimidating and chose to stay at his side of the elevator. But somehow, a part of him has a different feeling towards the stranger.

They rode the elevator in silence. Finally, Aiba couldn't contain himself.

"I- have never seen you here before. Are you a new employee?"

The stranger turned to him and gave him a look before he answered.

"Yes, what about it?"

Aiba felt a cold air blew when the stranger looked at him. "Ah, I thought so," was all Aiba could say as he smiled nervously. He glanced at the buttons. They were already on the fifth floor now. He silently prayed for the elevator to move faster.

The elevator opened and Aiba rushed out, not looking back as he walked out swiftly. But even he was already at the entrance of the building he could still feel eyes boring holes at him.

--

Aiba saw again the stranger the night after. It seemed to be that they both got off work at the same time when they shared another elevator ride. It's almost three in the morning. Aiba couldn't stop to wonder why.

And just like the last time, as soon as the door open, Aiba quickly walked out with eyes following him until he stepped out the building.

--

By the fourth time they met, Aiba found out the name of the stranger. It was the mysterious man who started the conversation and introduced himself to the latter. Just Nino he said and that’s it's already enough.

"I'm Aiba Ma---"

"I know."

Aiba rounded up to find Nino smirking at him. "How did---"

"You are quite popular one. People talk about you."

Aiba flustered hearing the words so he quickly turned away from Nino.

"Do you know what they talk about you?"

"Eh? No. What?"

"How they can go push you around and never complain? Are you really like that?"

Aiba didn't reply.

"You're a masochist."

"No. I- I just needed this job."

"Desperately?"

Aiba didn't answer anymore since they reached the ground floor.

--

Nino, as Aiba realized has a sharp tongue and he was a frank person. He said what's on his mind without hesitation. He was everything opposite of Aiba. Yet Aiba didn't exactly know how the two of them got along so well.

Aiba could never guess why he was able to understand Nino. He couldn’t even explain why he was somehow drawn to the enigmatic guy in the first place. It was like there was an invisible force making them two meet together always at the same time.

However, they never met outside the elevator walls. For one, Aiba didn't know where Nino was working. All he knew was the floor where he was coming. It was and always the thirteenth floor.

--

Matsumoto Jun was Aiba's boss. He was a strict, organized, perfectionist and meticulous boss. No one in the office has the nerve to retaliate or even talk back to him. And he wasn't exactly the good boss. Often he reprimanded his subordinates over unfinished work and small things. And most of the time, Aiba got scolded by.

"Are you stupid? I said I need 30 copies of this document, not just three," Matsumoto waved the paper in front of Aiba. "How can you fail to do such a simple task like this?" He said and threw the paper to Aiba. “Go do it properly. And bring me a cup of black coffee."

Aiba picked up the papers on the floor carefully. He heard his boss tapping his foot.

"Hurry up! I need it in thirty minutes. Get going."

"Y-yes sir. Right away."

After thirty minutes, Aiba came back with the photocopied documents and a black coffee. Matsumoto took a sip of the black coffee before he pushed the cup back quickly to Aiba thus splashing its content on Aiba.

"I don't like it. Go make me another," And Matsumoto returned to his work.

Aiba went back to where they make coffee. On his way there, he could hear his fellow work mates' whispers.

"Poor him. Matsumoto-san was so harsh on him."

"Oh come on. He should have seen it coming. I mean, how can he fail to do such a simple task?"

"Ssh... he's coming."

"Aiba-san, it's okay." One of Aiba’s work colleagues spoke when Aiba passed them by. Aiba looked at his work mates who were wearing fake sympathetic smiles. He just nodded and went in.

--

The first time Aiba seen Nino outside the elevator confinement was on Matsumoto Jun's office.

"Aiba," Matsumoto called from the office.

"Yes sir."

"If a person named Ninomiya comes, please let him in the office."

"Yes sir."

Aiba was shocked when he saw Nino walked in. Nino glanced at him then smiled before he went straight to Matsumoto's office. Aiba's eyes tried to peek inside at the office but before he could see anything Matsumoto had lowered the blinds.

Nino left after two hours. Aiba was pretending to be busy arranging the files on the table but he couldn't concentrate too well. In the end, he messed up again and Matsumoto reprimanded him.

The very same day, on his way home, Aiba met again Nino in the elevator as usual.

"How do know Matsumoto-san?" was the first thing Aiba asked as soon as the door closed in and they started to move.

"Ah. Jun-kun? He's a friend way back from high school."

“Ah, is that so?”

They paused for a while, Aiba thinking and Nino waiting.

"You hate Matsumoto right?"

"N-no. I don't. What made you think something like that?"

“I can read you and well, you know how rumors spreading around here,” Nino replied while he stepped closer to Aiba.

At that moment, Aiba felt uncomfortable with Nino invading his personal space. The elevator stopped abruptly just in time when the lights went out. It took a moment for Aiba to get used to the dark but Nino had took advantage of the time as he cornered Aiba, his body pressed against the other's.

"What are ---?"

"Do you know what happen in the office?" Nino's voice was whispering on his ear. His breath was giving goose bumps on Aiba's skin.

"I don't..."

Aiba let out a yell then gasp when a hand was placed in front of his crotch. He felt Nino's heavy breathing under his ear.

"Of course you want to know. You see, Jun-kun likes to do this," Nino muttered as his hand slid inside Aiba's pants. "But you see I hate Matsumoto too. He made me do a lot of awful things."

Aiba's eyes were tight shut and he was trying his hardest not to moan. Nino’s hand was leisurely stroking Aiba, taking his time. Then Nino ran his tongue playfully on Aiba's neck and said, "Wouldn't you want to get even with him? I’ll help you."

Aiba's eyes opened up and pushed Nino away.

"No, I won't do such a thing."

And the door opened up. Aiba all flustered quickly left Nino alone.

--

It had been weeks since he last saw Nino both in elevator and in Matsumoto’s office. There was a new person who went inside Matsumoto Jun's office during Nino's absence. His name was Ohno Satoshi, another employee of the company from the design team, that’s what he heard.

Ohno Satoshi was quiet just like Aiba yet Aiba ended up being friends with him. At first, they talked a little, about work and weather and that was that.

Ohno would go to Aiba's station whenever he visited Matsumoto and waited there even though Matsumoto would always tell him that he could wait inside.

"Matsujun is junior of mine back in college." Ohno said one time. The nickname used didn’t escape from Aiba’s ears.

"Oh. Just like Nino then." Aiba said unconsciously out loud. Ohno looked at him, confused.

"Nino?"

Aiba knew he would be in trouble if Matsumoto found out that Ohno knew about Nino.

"Ah, it was no one. Just a friend of mine."

Before Ohno could ask further, Matsumoto marched in and grabbed Ohno on the arm. Matsumoto was glaring at him until the door of the office shut closed.

Aiba knew he was in trouble again.

The elevator door slid open and Nino went in and stood beside Aiba. There were no exchanges of greetings. They stood there in silence. Aiba's head was hung down. When all of a sudden, Nino's hand reached Aiba's face.

"What happ—?"

Aiba didn't waste another moment as he closed the gap between his face and Nino's for he didn't want to hear Nino's inquiries about the bruises or marks displayed on his face. He didn’t want to tell to Nino especially to him because the man would again mention the proposition again.

"Aiba," Nino said when Aiba pulled away as the elevator stopped. Nino had not noticed they have reached the ground floor.

Saved once more by the door.

--

When Aiba saw Nino again after the incident on the elevator, Nino was incredibly mad. Aiba was shocked when Nino swiftly got in and grabbed Aiba on the collar.

"Why are you being good friends with that Ohno guy?"

"What's wrong about that? He's kind."

"Don't trust him. He is the type who cannot be easily trusted."

"What happened? Why are you so mad and where were you for the last few weeks?"

"Nowhere," Nino muttered as he let go Aiba and stepped back. Though Aiba moved closer to him and tried to touch him but then everything turned black as the elevator halted.

"Aiba-chan,"

Aiba opened his eyes and found Ohno staring back at him, his face painted with worried.

"The elevator door opened and I saw you lying motionless on the floor. Are you alright? What happened?"

"I-I'm not sure," Aiba replied as he tried to stand up. "I was just talking with Nino when suddenly the elevator stopped and everything blacked out. Where's Nino?" Aiba glanced around him to look for Nino but there was no one except the two of them.

"Nino?"

"I didn't see anyone."

"Yeah. The short guy with black hair and highlights."

"He probably got off earlier then."

Ohno looked at Aiba curiously as they walked toward at one of the benches in the lobby. If what Aiba said about the elevator stopped then how could the Nino guy got off? The elevator did stop a little longer in the second floor before descending to ground floor.

Who was exactly this Nino? The name sounded familiar however Ohno could not place where he had heard that name before. And what was that black feather beside Aiba?

--

Nino came by Matsumoto's office around 12 midnight. Aiba could hear voices coming inside. It appeared to be the two were having an argument. He was about to go home when he heard a scream coming from the office. He quickly rushed in and was dumbstruck to see Nino with a bloody knife on his hand and Matsumoto on the floor, gasping for air.

"Matsumoto-san!" Aiba ran to his boss' side but Nino held him on the arm.

"He was hurting you and I just can’t stand it. He deserved it," Nino said to Aiba, his hand gripped on the latter's arm.

Aiba stared at Nino, bewildered then looked back to his bleeding boss. "But he needs to go to the..."

"Are you stupid? He deserved it so come on," Nino yelled and dragged Aiba out the office. They reached the elevator and Nino pushed Aiba inside when the door opened.

"What-- Why are you doing this? He was your friend," Aiba shouted while he kept his distance from the other. Nino was smirking as he approached Aiba on the other side of the elevator. There was blood splashed on his face. Aiba stepped back further until his back hit the elevator wall.

"But Aiba-chan, isn't this what you want? You made me do those things," Nino replied as he leaned closer, invading Aiba's personal space.

"What are you saying? I didn't say anything to you. I didn’t want you to interfere with my personal life. And I don’t remember agreeing to your proposition."

"Hm?" Nino was still smirking at him and it was starting to scare Aiba. He didn’t think Nino would be like this, crazy and out of control. He had nowhere to go.

“You’re not making sense,” Aiba shook his head. “I thought you—“

Nino's hand held Aiba's face to turn it towards the opposite elevator wall. Aiba immediately close his eyes. He didn’t want to see Nino. But the fear he had inside grew more as his mind pictured the scene he witnessed moments ago.

"Open your eyes,” Aiba heard Nino whispered on his ear. “See? Do you understand now?"

Aiba opened his eyes and his face turned pale as he stared at the lone reflection on the elevator wall.

"Do you understand now? We're a team. We're in this together," Nino's voice ran on Aiba's head.

--

"Hmmm... Masaki," Matsumoto hummed as his hand ran on Aiba's hair. "You're so good," He pulled Aiba away from him and motioned him to stand up.

"You are not allowed to look or touch anyone except me. Understood?"

"Yes," Aiba mumbled as he stood up then laid his back on the desk while Matsumoto positioned himself between Aiba’s legs.

"Yes what?" Matsumoto paused while holding Aiba's hips tight enough to leave bruises.

"Y-yes Matsumoto-sama."

Matsumoto smiled triumphantly. And without any warning, he pushed himself in Aiba in one go then started to thrust, not even waiting for Aiba to adjust. He just loved how easy he can control Aiba.

“You’re dismissed,” Matsumoto said later while he fixed himself. He was not even sparing a glance to Aiba who was picking up his pants on the floor. “Don’t forget the report I’ve given to you. I need that on my desk tomorrow morning.”

“Yes sir,” Aiba bowed and exited the office quietly.

People at work thought that the reason why Aiba was still in the company was because of his rumored affair with Matsumoto. Of course, Matsumoto denied the rumor when he was summoned by the higher ups.

“There was nothing going on between Aiba-san and I. I’m just reinforcing strict supervision to my subordinates. That’s all.” Matsumoto explained in front to the panel of directors while Aiba was sitting one chair away from him. He didn’t notice Aiba getting rigid after hearing those words.

Right, Reputation and work was more important than him, Aiba thought.

After being called in, Matsumoto barely looked at Aiba. If he ever did, it was only to point out his mistakes or embarrass him. As long as Matsumoto was giving his attention, Aiba was okay with it.

However, days later, Aiba began to see different guys coming in and out Matsumoto’s office. He pushed away the unpleasant thoughts of what those guys and Matsumoto probably doing inside the office.

"But you are my favorite. You will always be special to me, Masaki."

And Aiba always believed in Matsumoto's words when they were together until he caught and overheard the conversation between him and his friend Ohno on the fire exit one night.

"What about Aiba-chan?"

"Aiba? I don't care about him. He's just a toy I'm already tired playing with. Let's not talk about unimportant things and focus on this," Matsumoto smirked when Ohno let out a barely audible moan.

Aiba, full of disappointment and hatred, left and went home. He was riding the elevator when something inside of him broke.

One night, Matsumoto was still in his office, working overtime when Aiba went to talk about him.

“What do you want to talk about? I’m busy so hurry up.” Matsumoto told Aiba while reading some reports.

“I want to know the truth Jun.”

Hearing being called by the first name, Matsumoto lifted his head to take a look with Aiba. He did not expect to find Aiba without his eyeglasses. It was a different Aiba compared to the one Matsumoto was used to see at work.

“Tell me Jun. I need to know. Am I really just a toy to you?”

“Masaki, where did you hear that?”

Remember if he replies to you with a question, then it’s the truth. He was just toying you, a voice in Aiba’s head echoed.

Matsumoto stood up and approached Aiba.

“Come on, you know it’s not the truth,” Matsumoto said sweetly then leaned closer to kiss Aiba on the lips.

Then he will try to talk to you to make out just to divert you, Aiba remembered the voice said.

“Hmm. I miss you.” Matsumoto’s hand was slipped inside Aiba’s shirt while his lips spread kisses on Aiba’s jaw down to neck before he went back to Aiba’s lips. “I want you.”

Aiba turned to face Matsumoto, a sad smile plastered on his lips.

“I love you Jun.”

And he stabbed Matsumoto on the stomach.

“I really love you.”

--

"He's a quiet person. I didn't know he can do such a thing. I don't know what to say. I'm still shocked about what happened." Ohno said to the investigator. He watched the police took away the body of Matsumoto.

The building was closed by police for the meantime. The scene was surrounded with yellow tapes all over to prevent anyone not related to the incident from walking in and around.

It was quite a scene, an image that would stay on Ohno's mind as long as he lives. He just came to check Jun. It was past twelve midnight. There's still light on Jun's office. He decided to look. Something was off. The door was left ajar. Jun never leave the door open. Ohno pushed the door and saw Aiba.

"Ohno-san,"

Ohno blinked away the vivid memory in his mind's eye and turned around to find the investigator waiting for him. He followed the police down the station.

--

Ohno followed quietly the woman in blue scrubs as she led him down the hallway. They stopped in front of the door. She reached for the key in her pocket and unlocked the door. The nurse motion Ohno to come in and examined his new surroundings.”

The room was all white, simple and clean. There's one bed, a lavatory and toilet. There's a window but placed so high above. The door closed behind Ohno. The man in wearing white gown lifted his head.

"He kept saying that he didn't do it even though all the evidence point to him. It was actually 'Nino' who had done those things," the inspector told to Ohno when he went once more to the station one week after.

"I didn't think you'll come, Oh-chan."

Ohno looked at the man. His face looked old. There were dark lines under the eyes. Ohno then turned his attention to the being behind the man. It was leaning closely to the man. It had a devious look on its eyes and malicious smile.

Ohno should have known when he first heard the name Nino from Aiba and where they met. It slipped out of his mind since he was pre-occupied with another client who in the end couldn't be saved at all.

There was such no thirteenth floor in the building since the company owner was superstitious. And there was no employee named Nino working in the company. However, every now and then another floor appears to some certain people, people who bore deep and dark emotions in their hearts. A man gets in from that floor and offers something that people would find hard to say no.

"I'm sorry. I should have done something that time. I didn't realize. I'm so sorry," Ohno said with sadness as he glanced at the man, his friend who smiled grimly at him while the being behind him just looked at him.

"You believe in me, Oh-chan?"

Ohno stepped closer. If only he just realized sooner, he thought. The being's arms swiftly wrapped around the man's body to tell that it has no intention of letting the man go. Then a pair of black wings spread out from the being's back.

"I do, Aiba-chan." Am I too late to save you?

"Yes, you are. His soul is mine now, Oh-chan," The being mouthed as his wings close around its prey.

"I can still try, Ninomiya."

After all, Ohno can still see a glimpse of hope in his friend's slowly turning gray eyes.

Oh wow that was really creepy!XD There were a lot of twists in this fic!

I sort of expected that Nino is out to screw things up for Aiba, and then Aiba would realize that Nino isn't real. What surprised me was when it was revealed that Nino was real after all and that he's a demon/the devil. And Ohno is his enemy. I found it fascinating, reading back, that Nino and Jun's relationship is connected to Ohno and Nino's battle too. Is it possible that maybe Nino was tricking Ohno into pouring his attention onto Jun while he goes and reaps Aiba's soul?

The elevator scenes were really creepy. So much tension in a small place freaks me out! XD Especially when Aiba turned and only saw himself. I have to say that that frightened me more than Nino's dark wings clinging onto Aiba.

Thanks for this intriguing fic. I enjoyed it a ton!
